The Pittsburgh Steelers finalized roster cuts on Tuesday and set their initial 53-man roster for the start of the regular season. Next up for the Steelers will be to go back and scour free agency to fill their practice squad. NFL rules allow for teams to keep up to 17 players.
The rules of the practice squad note that players with two or fewer accrued seasons will make up the bulk of the spots. The league does allow for six of the 17 players to have an unlimited number of accrued seasons. A player is allowed to be called up from the practice squad three times, but after their third call-up, they must be added to the 53-man roster.
We are basing our predictions only on players who were on the Steelers training camp/preseason roster. The Steelers will obviously look to other teams’ cuts for players as well.
