MSU women’s basketball jumps into Top-25 of Coaches Poll

It took a record-breaking win for MSU to earn the respect of the coaches.

I definitely raised an eyebrow when I saw the first coaches poll of the women’s basketball season that had MSU ranked outside of the Top-25. While the AP voters had Michigan State firmly in the Top-25, the coaches didn’t seem to agree, and I think it was fair to call that a snub.

The Spartans took that disrespect out on Mercyhurst last week, setting a program record in a 125-39 win over the Lakers. The beatdown, along with a 32-point win over Eastern Michigan, finally helped MSU earn some respect from the coaches this week, and in the latest poll, the Spartans jumped four spots in the poll up to No. 24, just ahead of their Big Ten rivals, Ohio State.
