Following his impressive NFL debut against the Buffalo Bills last weekend, New York Giants rookie Jaxson Dart received a ton of praise, including being named a top rookie QB performer in the NFL’s opening weekend of the preseason.
Now, after just one outing, some believe that the Dart should be the Giants’ starting quarterback as early as Week 1 of the regular season.
Ex-NFL quarterback Chase Daniel is the latest on the Dart starting quarterback train.
In the video posted by Daniel, he walks through the progression on Dart’s first touchdown and highlights his decision-making.
“Watch Jaxson Dart right here, watch his left hand — check to this. Look at that, we didn’t see that. That’s what I’m talking about, he checked to it. He checked to this go route, a perfectly thrown football. That’s what I’m talking about,” Daniel said.
“Big time, calling your own shot, getting smoked, throwing a freaking touchdown like this. Not a great rep by 63 [Jake Kubas] — hey, sometimes, you know what? You’re gonna get hit, get that ball out, you can’t throw it any better than this. Okay, on the ground. Let’s go — he checked to it!”
Head coach Brian Daboll has been adamant that Russell Wilson will be the Giants’ starter when the season begins. However, the more Dart impresses in the preseason, the more noise the Giants will hear to go with the rookie from the jump.
With the Giants’ less-than-favorable schedule to start the season, it may only be a matter of time before we see Dart as the starter. One this is for sure, Darts’ first game action performance has fans excited for what the future may hold with their rookie QB.
