The Chicago Bears are getting back a core special teams player ahead of their matchup against the New Orleans Saints. On Saturday, the team announced they have activated running back Travis Homer from injured reserve.
Homer missed the first five games of the year with a calf injury and is ready to make his regular season debut. The other two players on injured reserve who were eligible to come off, defensive end Austin Booker and linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga, were not activated and were ruled out. This is the second week in a row Booker got in a full practice but will not play.
In addition, the Bears elevated defensive lineman Jonathan Ford and kicker Jake Moody to the active roster for the second week in a row. Moody will again be the team’s kicker with Cairo Santos missing another game due to a thigh injury. Moody converted four of five field goals, including the game-winning kick from 38 yards out. Ford, meanwhile, will serve as depth on the defensive line. He has yet to record a stat in two games with the Bears.
Finally, defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon was re-signed to the practice squad after being released from the active roster on Friday.
