Never underestimate Japan!

Friendly football sometimes delivers completely crazy scenarios, and Tuesday’s game in Chōfu is proof of that.

Trailing 2–0 at halftime, Japan is currently turning the game around against Brazil (3–2) thanks to a sparkling second half.

And yet everything had started well for Carlo Ancelotti’s men.

Within half an hour, Paulo Henrique (26’, assist by Bruno Guimarães) and Gabriel Martinelli (32’, assist by Lucas Paquetá) had put the Seleção out of reach.

2–0, total control, Vinícius smiling… In short, a quiet afternoon seemed to be in store at the Ajinomoto Stadium.

Except Japan hadn’t had its last word.

Revitalized after the break, the Samurai Blue set the match on fire.

Takumi Minamino (52’) first pulled one back, before Keito Nakamura (62’) and then Ayase Ueda (71’) defied the odds.
