West Ham once again fail to deal with a corner – that’s now seven of their 12 league goals conceded from set pieces.
Before today, no other side in the Premier League had conceded more than three. For Jean-Philippe Mateta that’s now five goals in his past four league matches against West Ham.
The Hammers fans midway through the half chanted “sack the board”, repeating some of the songs sung by angry fans before the game.
Palace supporters had earlier chanted West Ham had “sold their soul” by moving to the London Stadium, with a large number of home fans actually applauding the sentiment.
Mateta’s goal is not going to lift the gloom around the stadium. Palace lead and deservedly so.
