7 quick takeaways from Jacksonville Jaguars’ Week 15 depth chart

After making a few roster moves over the last week, the Jacksonville Jaguars have updated their depth chart heading into Week 15.

This includes activating Eric Murray from injured reserve, signing Matt Dickerson from the practice squad to the active roster, and waiving running back Cody Schrader.

While we should always take these depth charts with a grain of salt, there are a few notes to make on each side of the ball, given the latest playing time developments.

– Cole Van Lanene is the first lineman off the bench at literally every position except for center. After Sunday’s game against Indianapolis, where Van Lanen started at left tackle, he has now started at four of the five offensive line positions this season.

– At tight end the last two games, Brenton Strange and Quintin Morris have been active, while two weeks ago it was Johnny Mundt who was the third tight end, and then this past Sunday it was Hunter Long. Is this a rotation? Or is the decision more matchup dependent? We’ll see moving forward.

– Dyami Brown is at the bottom of the wide receiver depth chart and has been for several weeks. His role on offense is almost nonexistent.

– Although not listed this way on the Jaguars’ depth chart, Matt Dickerson has surpassed Austin Johnson in playing time recently.

– Dawuane Smoot is still listed at defensive end, but the majority of his snaps have come lined up inside. Similarly, Dennis Gardeck is listed as a linebacker, but has mostly played defensive end.

– Montaric Brown, Greg Newsome, and Jourdan Lewis are the top cornerbacks, but the Jaguars have been finding ways to get Jarrian Jones on the field.

– Emmanuel Ogbah is listed ahead of Danny Striggow and BJ Green, but both rookies have passed him in playing time in recent weeks.
